Carl is a start-to-finish civil litigator with over a decade of experience in state and federal court as well as administrative tribunals.  Across his career, Carl has won numerous critical and dispositive motions, appeals, hearings and trials in a wide variety of civil cases. 

Prior to joining Parry Law, PLLC, Carl spent 5 years as a Special Deputy Attorney General representing multiple state agencies in civil cases.  He has considerable appellate experience – handling some 60 appellate cases in state and federal courts and previously serving as chair of the appellate practice section of a Raleigh-based firm.  In public service and private practice roles, Carl has deep experience particularly representing governmental entities in high-stakes litigation.

While in law school, Carl externed for Judge Richard Holderman in the Northern District of Illinois, the Judiciary Committee office of Senator Richard Durbin, and the United States Attorney’s Office.  Carl began his career primarily as a direct service legal aid attorney and then served as a staff clerk on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He is an active member of the Durham community, serving in appointed roles on numerous city and county committees and boards.
